Microsoft pleased with Windows 8 sales.

4.4
Four days after the launch of Windows 8 on the 26th of October, Microsoft announced that they had already sold of 4 million copies. Now 32 days later Microsoft have announced that they have now sold over 40 million licenses of Windows 8.

Unfortunately they didn't specify how many of these were brought as upgrades for existing Windows OS's and how many came bundled with newly sold PC systems. But they have claimed that "Windows 8 is outpacing Windows 7 in terms of upgrades."

Microsoft are also pleased with the launch of their own Windows Store, stating that:
“There were more apps in the Windows Store at launch than any other app store at their launch and since then, the number of apps in the Windows Store has doubled. A number of apps in the Windows Store have crossed the $25,000 revenue mark and the developer keeps 80% of the revenue they make off downloads for the life of their app. “

Although Microsoft seem happy with Windows 8, many others have been openly negative towards towards the OS. Notch the creator of Minecraft famously said he would refuse to certify Minecraft for Windows 8 saying that its closed system is “very very bad for indie games and competition in general”
Website SemiAccurate have claimed that “Microsoft has failed” and believe that they have become “...largely irrelevant to computing of late”.

Did you update to Windows 8? If so what are your opinions on it?
