Cyberpunk 2077 was recently spotted by a Reddit user listed as a Game Pass Ultimate title on the Xbox Store, suggesting that CD Projekt Red's AAA RPG could be headed to Xbox Game Pass any time soon.

It was previously confirmed by CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski that Cyberpunk 2077 would be following in the footsteps of The Witcher 3, and releasing a complete edition with all previously released content. Phantom Liberty – the game's upcoming expansion – is also confirmed to be a paid DLC, which creates a plausible scenario where developers might have decided to release the game on Game Pass as a marketing initiative to push players to try the game and hopefully buy the DLC later, as Game Pass Ultimate doesn't offer additional game content such as DLC or season passes.

Phantom Liberty is already a very ambitious DLC, and the developers even went as far as to feature Idris Elba in the new storyline. Another point to note is that the DLC will be available only on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, which is a logical direction after considering the rough launch and the game's less-than-ideal performance on last-gen consoles.

All signs point to how the developers are treating this DLC as a major image-changer and a turning point in Cyberpunk 2077's rough career, and Game Pass could soon be a part of that and encourage fans to change their minds about the game and its future.



CD Projekt Red has also shelved plans for a multiplayer component after teasing it for years, but they have not forgotten about it yet, as per their recent interview with Eurogamer. Their plan is not just to include multiplayer modes, or make separate AAA multiplayer titles like GTA online, but to build an online technology that can be seamlessly integrated into the development of all their future games.

The studio also stresses that its priority will remain focused on embracing single-player, story-driven experiences – like the Orion sequel in development – but is now looking forward to how their stories can be imbued with multiplayer elements that make sense and don't break the game or their reputation.
