343 Releases Winter Update for Halo Infinite, Thanks Fans for Patience

4.3
Halo Infinite's Winter Update is now live and is the game's most comprehensive update so far, introducing many features and changes that fans have been hoping for. Halo Infinite finally has campaign network co-op and mission replays, the Forge beta is live, and new maps and a new mode have been added along with plenty of other additions that have arrived with the update.

Despite being the highly anticipated latest installment in the beloved Halo series of first-person shooters, Halo Infinite has fought an uphill battle throughout its development and its rocky release. Many players were frustrated by bugs, performance issues, and a lack of expected features during the launch, and the free-to-play multiplayer mode struggled with connection and balance issues. To top it off, a discouraging number of major 343 Industries employees have departed from the studio in the last year. Needless to say, Halo Infinite has had its work cut out for it when it comes to winning back the support of players.

The new Halo Infinite Winter Update aims to do just that, bringing in tons of features as the game's most substantial content update since its release. 343 has shared its thanks to dedicated fans who have stuck with the game. One of the most notable additions is the arrival of campaign network co-op for Halo Infinite, one of the most requested features by players. The online co-op mode supports crossplay between PC and Xbox consoles and is set up so that players can keep any progress or unlocks they acquire during their online sessions. In addition, all missions can be replayed from the TACMAP if players wish to replay parts of the story without starting over completely. To accompany the new campaign experience, a variety of solo and group achievements have been added.

Another major feature coming with the update is the Forge for Halo Infinite, which allows players to design incredible custom-made content. Halo Infinite's Forge uses a visual scripting engine so that non-coders can program complex interactions, while also featuring highly customizable objects that can be rescaled and retextured to create truly unique designs. The Forge also has navmesh support, which means bots will be available in Forge maps for the first time.

A new Battle Pass for Halo Infinite has also arrived with the update, featuring 30 free tiers of cosmetic rewards for players to earn through regular gameplay. The introduction of two new maps, Argyle and Detachment, and a new Covert One Flag multiplayer mode makes for a perfect opportunity for players to try something new as they progress through the Battle Pass.

Halo Infinite is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
