Black Ops 2: weapon levels aren’t lost after you Prestige

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 changes up a lot of old truths regarding the series’ mulitplayer, and it seems that Prestige will be changing slightly too, according to Treyarch’s David Vonderhaar.

Taking to Twitter to answers some fan questions, Vonderhaar shed light on Black Ops 2′s tweaked Prestige format, “Just got this bug from QA. ‘Weapon levels are given after unlocking a gun that was leveled up on a past level progression.’ That’s what we call NAB. Not a bug.”

“If you Prestige and unlock the gun, you’ll pick up right where you left off,” he continued, “If something has been a certain way a long time, the assumption when it doesn’t work the way it has in the past is that it is a bug.”

So what he’s basically saying is that, say you unlock a weapon on your first multiplayer playthrough, then rank it up to level 10. You will lose that weapon after you Prestige, but if you unlock it a second time, it will start off at level 10.

Phew, everyone got that? Good.

Good!!!!! i hope that blackops 2 turns out better than all the other CoDs... tbh ive goten fedup of CoD now as i play bf3... its only nazi zombies that keeps me going on the thought to consider getting it.... -___-

thats a dumb reason to not get the game. Its like when Cod 4 was out and the m16 was absolutely overpowered and seeing it on mw2 and saying yeah not getting it cause that weapon....

This is pretty stupid. I will most likely get this game, but I don't want to sit here researching all of the new crap and learn the game. I just wish it was like MW2-Black Ops like changes at max.

I like this idea however. If they add like another 5-10 prestiges, there won't be as much hesitation on prestiging. If they have something like CoD points and people discover a glitch, it'll be dumb because glitch abusers will have all of the guns and can keep prestiging while they keep all of the guns and a max level.

Cod points are no more. They now introduced a new unlocking system with tokens.

I'm torn on if this is a good or bad idea. It could get boring if it is just going to be the same thing every prestige, but it would be nice not having to keep leveling the guns.
