Diablo Immortal Players Are Being Punished For Staying Idle

4
Blizzard is taking a firm stance against players who go idle during the competitive battleground mode of Diablo Immortal. Repeat offenders will now not only receive a loss of rewards but also be prevented from being able to queue for the competitive game modes for a short duration of time.

Various players started to report they would receive the idle warning in battlegrounds if they stood still for too long after the October 11 patch was released. It has been noted that as of October 16, the English patch notes do not mention the addition of an AFK (Away From Keyboard) timer. However, the Chinese patch notes do mention the addition. This came after Blizzard released a tweet using the @DiabloImmortal Twitter account asking players to avoid going AFK while showing a battleground scoreboard with a player having a 0 in every scoring category.

The development team also made a tweak to the Shadow Assembly event, allowing players to grant other players blessings that will reward them with powerful legendary gear. This action by Blizzard will reward players that are actively working together and discourage players from going AFK and idling, causing them to miss out on blessings, seeing as the Shadow Assembly is one of the most effective ways to receive gear.

The punishments fit a common theme for players experienced with Blizzard games, as the company is known for actively working to prevent player idling. In World of Warcraft's competitive modes arena and battlegrounds., players who stand still for to long not interacting with the match will receive a warning letting them know they will soon be kicked from the match. If players continue to stay idle, they will not only get kicked from the match but are then are prevented from being able to play in another match for at least fifteen minutes.

Similarly, in the recently released Overwatch 2, if you idle during the quick match, you will be kicked out, while if you idle in a ranked match, you will be kicked out and receive a time-out preventing you from queuing for more ranked matches for a certain amount of time, as well as receiving a loss for that match. Blizzard has a history of paying attention to the competitive and fun factor of their PvP (Player vs Player) modes, which seems to have worked out well in their other live-service games.

Runts That is side. People have life's and forget it's on or go get a drink or food etc.

its called dont boot up the game/start looking for a match well going out to the store/taking a dump/going to the kitchen ect, it takes two minutes to run downstairs and go back upstairs/to the open concept kitchen, people shouldnt match make if they are gonna dip out of the game just to get the awards, sega does the samething in the open field in pso2ngs now and im glad, remember being a man down affects your team, its not hard to hit esc and click close game/return to main menu. or better yet just dont play the game if youre just afk farming.

PPK who cares how long they stay idle every heard of afk? lol

afk is technically against the rules in many games just not enforced.
sega started doing it with pso2 in open field which is a good thing, fighting a boss well being a man down does affect everyone around you, wanna go afk go to the main cities/go to the main menu.

Doesn't matter. They should've happy we buy these over priced games and even play them anymore lol.
