Xbox exec shares her support for Rockstar following GTA 6 leak

An Xbox executive has shown support for Rockstar Games following Sunday’s leak of Grand Theft Auto 6 assets.

Xbox corporate vice president Sarah Bond offered solidarity with the game’s development team on Twitter, saying she sympathised with how frustrating it must be to have its work shared before it was ready to be shown.

“My thoughts are with the team at Rockstar Games,” Bond wrote. “It can be disheartening to have a project you’ve worked hard on to delight fans revealed and critiqued before it’s ready.

“I know they’re creating something special and can’t wait to experience GTA6 when it’s officially unveiled.”

Bond’s comment also gives further credence to the authenticity of the leaked footage, making it even more likely that it was genuine.

Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive has also started removing leaked footage of the game, further implying its legitimacy.

Over 90 alleged videos from a development build of Grand Theft Auto 6 were leaked onto social media on Sunday.

First posted to the GTA Forums by user Teapotuberhacker, the footage includes open-world gameplay which was alleged to be from Grand Theft Auto 6.

The same user has now claimed they’re looking to “negotiate a deal” with Rockstar following the incident.

It’s unclear what exactly they would want, or what they believe they have in terms of any leverage over Take-Two, which has spent most of the day battling the leak by issuing takedown notices to YouTube.

However, the user seemingly claims to have the source code for the build, suggesting they may intend to hold Rockstar to ransom over the remaining material.
