Report: Activision may have paid 'tens of millions' to West, Zampella

When ex-Infinity Ward employees Jason West and Vince Zampella settled their lawsuit with Activision, it was sudden, shocking, and most of all, secret. Activision paid out an undisclosed sum to West and Zampella just before a full trial was set to begin, and while it is expected the exact amount may never be made public, experts can still make an educated guess.

Financial analyst Doug Creutz of Cowen and Company posits that the settlement was worth "tens of millions," Gamespot reports. Considering Activision paid out $42 million to the Infinity Ward Employee Group as part of a separate lawsuit, and West and Zampella were seeking $1 billion when the case reached its bitter peak, this ballpark figure checks out.

Activision will report earnings on Thursday, August 2, and Creutz says he expects investors will ignore the impact of the settlement on Activision's bottom line.

I didn't like MW3 and it was 50/50 with MW2.

W@W was amazing and BO was alright.
Yeah i'm hoping that BO2 wont disappoint me like MW3 did.

cod4 was no doubt the best, then it went downhill at mw2 i thought.

I don't think it will, seeing as its made by treyarch. Even if they do mess up multiplayer, you ALWAYS have zombies. :p

Mazur this shows how much money a company like this is able to throw around at pleasure.


That's not pleasuring paying out $42 million in a lawsuit! But they still do have plenty of money, but I bet they didn't want to do it. Considering they still want $15 bucks for 1 person to get a couple of maps.


oh that's just pleasure money, trust me, 15 bucks per map pack + 60 bucks for the game X the number of overall people who buy the game.
