Rumor – Microsoft is Among Potential Activision Buyers

Vevendi, the majority stakeholder of Activision Blizzard, has began “testing the appetite of possible bidders.” Vivendi has a 60 percent stake in the biggest video game publisher, Activision Blizzard. Interestingly, Microsoft’s name has come up in the list of potential new suitors

“Although a formal process has not started, bankers close to Vivendi are sounding out cash-rich trade players, including China’s Tencent and U.S. duo Time Warner and Microsoft, as well as private-equity heavyweights KKR, Providence and Blackstone,” Reuters‘ sources claim.

The French conglomerate’s stake in Activision has an estimated price of 10 billion dollars.

Even if Microsoft would purchase Activision, they wouldn't keep the PS3 players from their games, it'd be kinda bad doing that and it would also enrage a load of gamers.

I'm sure Sony would get a little angry if Microsoft told Activision to make games only for the XBOX and not anything else, but it's most likely if they were bought by them it would be very unlikely.

I can see Microsoft buying activision,considering all of the money activision makes and after all Microsoft loves their money.

aimiami12 I highly doubt either microsoft or sony is going to get activision. It would be a bad business move to be honest. Whos to say that Microsoft's next console is a fail? I mean look at Ps2 sales to orginal Xbox sales, PS2 was so far ahead of microsoft in console gaming at that point. Sony could easily knock their next console out of the park while Microsoft has a huge disappointment. (Vice Versa)
Also PC game sales are up 230% while console games are down roughly 20% http://thetechgame.com/wCEmW
