Sony working on PlayStation 4 since August 2010

Attila Vass’s LinkedIn profile says he worked as director of research and development at SCEA from May 1998 to April 2012, adding that he worked on the graphic library and security for the “Next Generation PlayStation” between August 2010 and April 2012.

The job description on his profile also confirms that he was involved in working for Sony’s “next-gen” platforms.

“In 1998 I started as the first engineer in the Playstation US R&D,” says Vass’s profile.

“I worked on graphics ( COLLADA, PSGL ) and a lot of network related technologies ( advertising, telemetry, PVRs ) for the Playstation2-x, PSP, Vita and Next Generation platforms. Platform security was occupying most of my time at the last years… ”

VG247 was told earlier this year that Sony is aiming to launch PlayStation 4 before Xbox 720 next Christmas.

Katsumi Not really surprised on this one. All major projects take a lot of time. I'm interested how this will go though. Apparently sony wants to launch it before the xbox720.. if i remember correctly it was the 360 that launched before the ps3

I want them to launch at the same time

SovietRussia Hopefully it will take disc still.I'm thinking they are going to try and move us into the future by making us download games, which will put stores like gamestop out of business.

I don't think they will get rid of discs for some time. There is still a large market which play offline, it would be a rather large mistake to forget about them. Also if games are going to have to be downloaded then ISP's will have to up their game, download speeds are ridiculously slow in the UK and US (More so in the UK) compared to places like China and Japan, so downloading games which are 6GB+ can take forever.

Agreed. It could take a whole day to download a game.
