Nintendo Switch has finally added folders

Nintendo has finally added folders to Nintendo Switch, five years after the console’s launch.

The much-requested feature, which Nintendo is calling ‘groups’, will allow users to more conveniently manage their software libraries on the Switch Home Menu.

To access the feature, users must download the latest Switch firmware, version 14.0.0, after which pressing the L button will display groups.

Groups are only available when more than 12 software titles are saved on the Nintendo Switch system.

Up to 100 groups can be created with a max of 200 titles per group. The same software title can be added to multiple groups.

Nintendo’s description reads: “You can sort your favourite software titles however you want! Using themed groups can help make titles easier to find too.”

Firmware 14.0.0 also makes changes to how Bluetooth audio controls work on Switch, with the on-system volume control now properly reflecting a device’s own controls.

In its latest financial results, which were published in February, Nintendo said Switch has become its best-selling home console in history.

The console has shipped over 103 million units, surpassing Wii’s 101 million total, and Switch had 98 million annual playing users last year.

A senior industry analyst recently forecast Nintendo’s next console to launch in 2024, with no ‘Switch Pro’ model arriving before that date.
