Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Update Fixes A Lot of San Andreas Issues

3.7
It’s been a strange couple of months for Grand Theft Auto and Rockstar Games. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Edition released late last year, and while many thought it would be an easy “Win” for Rockstar Games, each game was overwhelming with technical issues, bugs, and more. Given the popularity of its contents—GTA 3, GTA San Andreas, and GTA Vice City—this was definitely surprising.

Even then, fans know that the PS5 and Xbox Series X release of Grand Theft Auto 5 and its counterpart, now going standalone, GTA Online is releasing here soon. And, top of that, Rockstar Games has officially confirmed Grand Theft Auto 6. It’s been a rollercoaster for the franchise, but while there is a lot on the way, a lot of work is still being done to the trilogy.

A new update rolled out on February 25 specifically, fixing bugs and making updates across the spectrum. While each game is getting a new set of fixes, the patch notes for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas are mightily impressive. Every entry either begins with “Improved” or “Fixed an issue where…”

In terms of improvements, GTA Trilogy players can expect a better High Fade haircut, an improved first-person camera in certain vehicles, better collision in the backroom of Zero’s RC Shop, better Firefighter and Paramedic UI messages, better UI on the driving school TV on 3440x1440 resolution, and better audio, specifically on the mission “Sweet’s Girl.” (Full Patch Notes Below)

Otherwise, there is a comprehensive list of fixes across the spectrum, from minor misleading aspects like a bad in-game message to achievements that didn’t work to a fix for NPCs who can be killed when they shouldn’t be. Hopefully, all of these bug and technical fixes make for a better Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas experience, but chances are, there will be quite a few lingering bugs as support for the game moves forward.

It’ll be interesting to see where the games are when the new anniversary of their release comes around later this year, but hopefully, they get to a state where they can be truly enjoyed. What’s worrying is whether or not any potential Grand Theft Auto 6 reveals overshadows their redemption arcs.
