Skype Heading to Xbox 360

4.5
After Microsoft’s Skype acquisition last May, many have been waiting to see what changes might be coming to the popular VOIP service. A job listing at Microsoft seems to have given it all away though, as they are currently looking to hire a ‘Software Development, Engineer, Xbox – Skype’
Read on for the listing and additional information!

This job listing is all there is to go off at the moment, but it certainly sounds like Skype is on the way to the Xbox platform. With E3 only a couple of months away, it would seem the perfect time for Microsoft to announce another wave of their Entertainment Apps which have become increasingly popular with services such as Netflix, BBC iPlayer, YouTube, and LoveFilm just to name a few.

There’s always the chance that it could tie directly into the Party Chat system already available on the platform, with the ability for users on other devices to join an Xbox Live Party Chat….but that’s just all speculation at the moment.

How do you think this app will affect the XBL experience?

I think it will be great, but the bad thing will be the need for a camera with a mic, unless you can use your Xbox mic

I would honestly love to be able to talk to my friends on their computers when I'm playing Xbox. Let's just hope they can implement something that allows you to talk in the middle of a game, like party chat. I have a feeling it will just be a poorly designed (or at least not as good as it could have been) app, and all you could do is send messages, not even talk in groups

On a side note, Skype was supposed to come to Xbox back when the new dashboard was released.

What would be the point

TTG_GERMANY they wasting the money what we want with skype if we can do partys in xbl and have skype on pc WTF is wrong with MS

Well, my friend doesn't have an Xbox 360, and it's a pain in the ass to play Black Ops Zombies with one ear wearing my headset and my other ear holding my PC head phones, and we talk on Skype most of the time, so this would be EXTREMELY helpful for me, as well as many others.

ZxChaos If they could, they should add the ability where skype peoples could join party chats xD you would have to sync your gt with your skype username :b
if they don't do this i dont see much point in it, i could just as easily use a computer
