MW3 Dev Considers Non-Lethal Deathstreaks For Next CoD

4.1
Recently, the Call of Duty community has been rather vocal about their view of the inclusion of Deathstreaks in the Modern Warfare series, originally introduced in Modern Warfare 2.

If you missed it, Creative Strategist, Robert Bowling, recently shared his views about deathstreaks like Final Stand, which got some dialogue (hopefully constructive) happening between fans and himself.

In case you haven’t noticed, much of the community, especially the vocal ones, share a general dislike (dare I say hatred?) of the inclusion of Deathstreaks which Bowling has been taking into consideration lately. Though, he does argue that “stats show people use Deathstreaks (lethal ones) a lot.” Earlier, he mentioned that it’s simply a compromise that MW3 developers had to agree on. Luckily, it seems the developers are open to change. Though Deathstreaks will not be taken out of Modern Warfare 3, or perhaps even in the next instalment of the series, Bowling admits that “they could be rebalanced.” For example, when asked if it’s possible that the blast radius of Dead Man’s Hand be lowered, Bowling answered, “it’s possible, we’re always looking at balancing. No plans announced currently though.”

To be more specific, it seems that it’s the lethal Deathstreaks like Final Stand and Dead Man’s Hand that the community mostly has a grudge against. Bowling would tell you, “I agree, two of my least favorite deathstreaks. They’re here to stay for MW3,” unfortunately. At least non-lethal ones like Copycat and Juiced still give an unlucky/unskilled player a boost in performance without having such a negative effect on other players. To fans who have thought that it would simply be better if all Deathstreaks were non-lethal, Bowling states, “I agree.” He added, “the best thing players can do is stop using them. If we see people prefer non-lethal over lethal = Change.” He went on to mention that, “every game is unique, there’s no reason to think [Deathstreaks] would or would not be in any future iteration. Feedback does help shape that.” It is likely that developers will consider this for their next title in the Call of Duty franchise, which you know there will be.

Here’s to non-lethal Deathstreaks in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4!

If they fix cod 4 then death streaks aren't a problem anymore cause most would go to call of duty 4 =D

I think we can all agree that COD4 was the best COD. IMO, COD WaW was good, but it was just a copy and paste COD4 with WW2 guns, and different graphics.

Where they went wrong was instead of building on COD4, they tried going a different route and trying something new...which is not what the base players wanted. BO2 hopefully will not fall into the same trap as MW2 and MW3 did.

YEAH i hear the community to cos some deathstreaks are just plain ownage ( DEAD mans hand)??? WTF i mean come on your dead already BUT.....and bear with me on this. some times deathstreaks are not all bad - Example, i entered a game of TD the other day and i instantly spawned in front of an enemy...ok but then guess what after he killed me instantly i spawned straight in front of the same guy again and he stuck me with semtex i mean come on wtf BUT to top it all of i spawned again spraying and raring to go and someones reaper downed me within 2 seconds WTF!!!!

IW you need to seriously sort your S@#T out and go back to what you really did best years ago.
its all good introducing bigger killstreaks more harmful deathstreaks - whatever blah blah but you have forgot about balance throughout the game ie camping spots, weapon balance, hit detection, kill/death streaks and even hit detection - your focusing to much attention on the money and also security. Its not like your not gonna make money ( 33million online players x 45.00) someone do the math and thats before we get to merchandise.
Also who cares if a few people pay for a 10th lobby at least it narrows down the leechers, its like TU7 was good though because it stopped anyone and everyone giving infections so drop a good TUpdate in and leave a few noobs or people who dont want to prestige like 15 times lol. SERIOUSLY come on sort it out either way. I do like the video function though for finding Boosters this is cool :-)
rant/opinion over.
Peace TTG

shadow1 Woah woah woah woah woah. Did i read this right? So are they saying in the next cod installment, they will not remove death streaks? So does that mean that IW wasnt kidding about join treyarch so they can ruin treyarch so they can be more popular again by adding death streaks in bo2? If so please god help treyarch. I like treyarch games better becuase they just feel right and a good medium pace, not slow like bf or fast like mw2/2.5.

Ruining Treyarch?
Treyarch ruined themselves with Whackops and the gameplay is so slow it encourages camping more

The path IW is taking makes treyarch the better company just look at mw3.
