Call of Duty Elite pulls in 7 million users, 1.5 million paid memberships

4.3
Call of Duty Elite, the community portal for Activision's perennial shooter is apparently doing gangbusters, according to the publisher's 2011 earnings report. The report states that Elite has pulled in over 7 million members as of January 31.

Even more impressive: over 1.5 million of those are premium subscriptions, available as part of the $100 Hardened Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 or as a separate $50 purchase. Paid membership grants a few benefits, most notably a free pass and early access to Modern Warfare 3 DLC.

We'd say the service probably qualifies as a success at this point, at least from Activision's perspective.

aMuup Why would 1.5 Million people spend money on something useless?

Hmm, lets do simple elementary math(I know most of you people on TTG are probably still in elementary but bare with me)

Let's assume you bought every Black Ops map pack for $15 and intend to do the same with MW3. There was 3 map packs.

15*4=$60 or $15+$15+$15+$15=$60.

Call of Duty Elite Premium cost $50. 60-50=10. So buying Premium saves you $10 AND you get extra features.

But yea, you're right, it's useless.

All of you dummy kids, if you're thinking only maps then you're wrong.

They going to make more than just maps..

Specail ops mission, mission in single player and much more..

Also it's going to be extra maps, which will be more maps than all COD.

Get your facts straight..

All of you don't believe me, then help yourself by going to website.

My reading comprehension may be bad, but are you trying to tell me I'm a dummy and I need to get my facts straight? (If not, disregard the rest of the post)

Because I said "you get extra features." Features being everything besides multiplayer maps.

Because I guarantee you most people bought Elite for the maps, not for the damn single player missions.

Everyone that complains about COD Elite is pathetic.

They tried do something NEW.
There's nothing wrong with that.

I'm glad I spent 50 bucks on it.

It is absolutely useless, it should cost half of that for the maps. The features are pointless too

Meant to say 4 map packs.

if you play Cod a lot, it is worth what you pay, so far im not so satisfied but there is more to come...
and anyway im not really surprised CoD elite hit 1.5 paid members and 7 million users in all. Yes its an outrageously large number, but thats just what to expect with anything related to CoD...

iDestroy Shame clan ops/ challenges aren't up.
Boosters ruin the competitions despite them saying they check they clearly don't when a 10th level 80 got there in 9 hours (jordanxbl you scrub)
The dlc release calendar should have been up from day 1 with ALL the content not just dribs and drabs.
Not enough multiplayer maps being released.

In my eyes elite has been a failure so far - but hell it can't get any worse right?!

thats true but All Elite Players are just BETA Tester for me thats what i think.

EliteGamerz I hope they will be in a good mood to give us a prestige token! :)

yea if they would probably just 1 Prestige Prestige Token, F*ck That.
I would say give "US" 24/7 Double XP Weekend.
