CD Projekt Red rolls out official Cyberpunk 2077 mod tools

Maybe fans will get the RPG to work slightly better.

Official mod tools for Cyberpunk 2077 are now out in the wild.

Developer CD Projekt Red has published official tools and resources for modifying the recently-released sci-fi RPG. This includes Metadata information, as well as Archive and Tweak dumps. The studio says that these will receive continuous support and will be updated alongside future game patches.

Users have already managed to mod Cyberpunk 2077 – you can check out some of our favourites right here. Others include a rather wonky third-person mod, that does pretty much what it says on the tin, as well as a hack that allows users to unlock cheats in the sci-fi RPG and another that gives the game a rather Borderlands cel-shaded look.

CD Projekt Red has long supported mods, including in 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. One of the big modding groups for that title – Wolvenkit – also said in December that it was going to be supporting Cyberpunk 2077.

Since its release on December 10, Cyberpunk 2077 has come under fire for being, well, rather buggy and glitchy on all platforms, as well as straight-up barely working on PS4 and Xbox One. CD Projekt Red rolled out a number of hotfixes at the end of 2020 to fix some of the problems the game was facing, ahead of major updates that the studio promised at the start of 2021. The first of these rolled out on January 23 but appears to have introduced some new errors, which is less than ideal.

In the past, the modding community has been at the core of fixing some triple-A releases, including the PC version of Dark Souls. So if CD Projekt Red doesn’t fix Cyberpunk 2077, the odds are you’ll be able to pick up a mod that makes some positive improvements to the game before long.
