Microsoft: Xbox Live gains a new user every two seconds

4.5
Xbox Live’s head of marketing, Robin Burrowes, has said Xbox Live’s popularity has grown considerably since its launch in November 2002, and continues to grow exponentially by gaining a new user every two seconds.Speaking at the 2011 London Games Conference, Burrowes cited Xbox Live’s original 2002 figures which saw 50,000 users flock to the service at launch. By the end of 2010, it had garnered 35 million users, up 15 million from the prior year’s 20 million thanks in part to the launch of Kinect.

Burrowes said “users are resonating with the fact that the games console goes beyond its usual remit,” and the company’s European figures affirm this: 75% of console owner watch dvds and 72% download content.

He also said 42% use the social networks accessible through the console, and they chat and message one another while watching a video or TV show.

TTGxTrigger i hate how Microsoft pretty much owns the consumers, i mean if i pay for something shoudnt i be able to do with it as i please? Ex: Put anything i want on my profile...i mean i did buy it technically. i find it pretty dumb how they can ban you whenever they want even if you might have payed over 50 dollars. they might have 35 mil+ users, but how many are online/banned?

the only thing you are buying is the right to use their service which comes with rules that you must follow.if you break them they can revoke your rights to use the service.
rules are not there just to wave power over us they are there to keep order just like the law in real life.
99% of people that get banned knew there was a risk of it when they did whatever they did but it somehow allways comes down to "no reason"

you are not "buying" they are charging you a fee and in return they let you use their service which comes with rules that you must follow.
if you break them they can revoke your rights to use the service.

They use the same justification that nightclubs use, private place where they can kick you out despite paying entry fees.
