Those of you waiting for the Switch version of Apex Legends are going to have to wait just a little bit longer for its release.

After a new rating by the ESRB, it was looking like we were going to see Apex Legends making its way onto the Nintendo Switch sometime soon. We’re now going to have to wait a little while longer because the game has been delayed until sometime next year.

Game director Chad Grenier stated in a blog post: “For those who game on the Nintendo Switch, we’re still hard at work on the port, but in order to do justice to the game and make it into the great experience Switch players deserve, our team needs more time. This year has brought on unexpected new challenges, to put it mildly, and we don’t want to rush anything out.”

Grenier continued: “Switch owners can expect to get their hands on Apex Legends next year. And of course, when Apex Legends does launch on Switch, it’ll come with support for cross-platform play, our latest seasonal content, and full feature parity with the other versions of the game.”

Even though the delay might hurt to hear, Grenier confirming that the game will come with all of the features included in the other versions of the game is great. We have seen how successful Fortnite was on the Nintendo Switch. Hopefully, we do not have to wait too long into next year for Apex to come to the hybrid system.

Apex Legends is currently available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. There has been no word on next-gen enhancements, but the game will still be backwards compatible with the Xbox Series X|S and PS5. Apex Legends will also be launching on Steam alongside the release of Season 7 on November 4.
