Modern Warfare 3 General Manager Not Impressed By Battlefield Franchise

4.4
The developers behind Modern Warfare 3 may have 99 problems but Battlefield 3 ain’t one. Glen Schofield, general manager of MW3 co-developer Sledgehammer Games, has been singing the praises of their own military shooter as the release date for rival Battlefield 3 is just a week away. To douse the flames of excitement for Battlefield 3, Schofield made it clear that he does not see the title as a threat to his company. “Let’s just say that I still use Modern Warfare 2 as my competitor. I need to make sure that the millions of people that played Modern Warfare 2 will pick up this game, notice that it’s better, notice that it’s bigger, that there’s more in it, that there’s more polish, all that stuff. That’s what I’m concerned with – this community.”

Schofield claims that he had not heard of the Battlefield franchise until “five or six months ago,” when Battlefield 3′s marketing campaign began to build up steam. Throughout the summer, EA has been showcasing the capabilities of its stunning new Frost Engine that has shown graphic superiority to Call of Duty‘s latest games. After a confusing explanation of how game engines can be like a Porsche or spaghetti, Schofield appeared fed up with the comparisons, “I’ve said this before – I’m not shipping an engine, I’m shipping a game. So that’s why I’m going to talk about the game. You can talk about your engine all you want. It’s not fun.”
When asked about the lack of a MW3 beta, Schofield sidestepped the question. “Someone asked me that the other day. This game is so big between the campaign, the Spec-Ops and the multiplayer, there was so much work to do that I don’t know whether it hit anyone’s mind or not. We had XP and XP was in itself a way for 1,000s of people to play the game and for us to look over their shoulder and see how they were doing and how they liked it and that was really good.”

If you havn't noticed already... COD doesn't look at BF3 as a big threat so they don't put up a commercial after every single show to help increase their pre-orders.
Renting BF3 for Campaign.
Buying Mw3 for Everything.
I never pre-order and I hate EA since they add pre-order exclusives.

I'm going to put it this way.

Call of Duty is a descent game. Played mostly by those in their early teens. It's a generally easier game, built for those who don't care much for quality, they just want to relax and have a good time.

Battlefield is a great game. Battlefield is played mostly by adults and those in their late teens. Battlefield games are generally more realistic, intense, and require more thinking to do. With Battlefield the player can't just pick up the controller, and begin doing successfully. There's a learning curve involved. Battlefield games usually have better graphics, and a superior engine, along with a friendlier community.

Battlefield is for the most part the better game, because it's better built, and isn't rushed, like Call of Duty is.

However, its perfectly acceptable to like Call of Duty more than Battlefield. If you pay less attention to detail, prefer an easier experience, and/or are younger, then Call of Duty is probably the game for you.

Does this sum it up for you?

Letsgooutside Lol if it wasnt for battlefield there wouldnt be a call of duty. He can gtfo

And if it wasnt for Medalof Honor their wouldnt be a battlefield. Actually there would, just like how if their wasnt a BF their would still be a COD. Don't be ignorant lmao. Don't try and act like BF3 didnt take ideas from COD games.

What ideas has Battlefield taken from CoD?

Have you played BFBC1, BFBC2, or the BF3. Im not even going to answer your question. Its obvious they took things from COD that made COD a successful franchise.

Its obvious they took some things from COD, and if you can't see what they took from COD, then you aren't too bright.

Hmm Battlefield 1942-September 10, 2002
Call Of Duty-October 29, 2003 who copied who in first person shooters. Anyways every game has copied pong by using a controller.

Hmm
Medal of Honor - November 11, 1999
Battlefield 1942-September 10, 2002
Call Of Duty-October 29, 2003

How much do you expect war fps games to change from each other?

And wasnt it made by EA too?

Lol, you don't even know the difference between developers and publishers.

I do, I just like saying irrelevant things.

Correction; You say dumbasss things, you are then proven wrong, which makes you look stupid, so you pretend as if you're doing it on purpose, when you're clearly not.

and halo was the first to bring a good fps to console so they both are kinda stolen, bottom line battlefield says they are gonna beat cod every release and guess what they dont. i wish battlefield fanboys would shut up about how awesome they think they are but we all know that talk is going to continue even after cod destroys bf in sales
who cares? just STFU already!

Dreamworks made Medal of Honor...

MEGA QUOTE!!!!!!!

But seriously guys, stop fighting and buy both games. They are both going to be fun to play.

Why does everyone gotta bash?
I always like to play the game before I buy. I loved the beta for BF3 and I am pre-ordering. I'm gonna wait to play MW3 at friends' houses before I decide to purchase; although both look like great games from the trailers.

xI_M9_Ix Are all you MW3 Fanboys ready for a $60 Map Pack?

If you haven't played MW3 yet, don't even try and say it's just a map pack.

Battlefield 3 is gonna rip a$$ because of the campaign and multiplayer. mw3 is gona be the same old sh*iT as mw2 with a diffrent campaign woop dee doo.im looking forward to being able to do jet to jet, tank to tank and hand to hand combat alot more than barely being able to climb over sh*it in mw3.

GO BATTLEFIELD 3

and the other guy that said halo was good

3OH3 It's funny because I have 99 problems.... And they all *******

And it's funny because IW is their own competition. They could care less about bf3 it seems. Which is the complete opposite for bf3. All they care about is making it look better than CoD. Which it entirely may be, but they don't have a big enough fan base to support them. When your competition is going to out sell you by millions you shouldn't be going around saying stuff like that because then your company looks like an ****

couldnt agree more, bf3 are just scared by mw3 which is why they are going around spreading all this bullshizz whereas cod just completely ignore bf.... EA couldnt be acting more CHILDISH about this and they need to grow up

GrindPosted:

Why is this such a huge fight between mw3 & bf3? Everyone's entitled to their own opinion and you should all acknowledge that. It's a video game, not really with arguing over.
