US physical sales slide six per cent in September

The total US physical video game market - videogames, consoles and accessories - fell by six per cent from $1.23 billion to $1.16 billion year-on-year in September, according to new figures from research group NPD.

Despite a number of high-profile game releases, such as Gears Of War 3 and Madden NFL 12, sales of new console and PC software slid one per cent year-on-year to $653.2 million, but were up three per cent over the previous month's figures.

Meanwhile hardware and accessory sales saw more significant drops, falling nine per cent to $349 million and 14 per cent to $154.8 million respectively.

Microsoft's Xbox 360 was the best-selling console during the month, reaching 438,000 (45,000 less than the same month last year).

next year will be diffrent, at least for games itll change. Theres battlefield 3, MW3, skyrim, halo ce, and saints row 3 to name a few.
I wouldnt be suprised to see console sales go down though, seems like everyone has an xbox/ps3 (i guess you could count the wii but why would you...)

CastleCrashers What i dont understand is how the xbox keeps selling units, i understand people's break and they get new ones, and presents, but still how does it constantly just keep getting bought by so many people?
