Four MS employees working on “Xbox next-gen,” says LinkedIn CVs

4.6
The existence of an in-development next-gen Xbox has been given further weight this morning, after various Microsoft employees were spotted mentioning 'next-gen' work in their LinkedIn CVs.

Microsoft employee Jeff Faulkner is currently working as "Xbox Next Gen Creative Director" according to his LinkedIn profile, having occupied the role since January 2011. Meanwhile "senior creative director for Xbox" Jonathan Harris says he's spent the last 14 months "designing the next generation of entertainment", while Xbox hardware intern Joe Langevin says he's working on "high speed data buses to prevent electromagnetic interference in next-gen devices."

The most revealing of the LinkedIn listings though is arguably that of ex-Microsoft employee Patrick Corrigan, who says he spent the first half of 2011 "providing groundwork an[d] integration for branding elements for next-gen Xbox on all forms of media. Ranging from print to UI across future releases of the Xbox platform".

Microsoft's probably working on a new Xbox then. Try and act surprised.

The platform holder has long spoken of its ten-year plan for Xbox 360, which launched in late 2005, but that doesn't rule out a successor launching during the period, according to European Xbox boss Chris Lewis, who said in August:

"We think we're a little over halfway with the life cycle of the console, but that's not to say there won't be an overlap. I'm not going to announce specifically or talk about timing. But you could imagine there could be overlap, it depends. We're not being specific about the next generation at this stage."

Just guessing but this probably wont be released for at least 3 years. If the report is accurate, 5 people really isnt enough.
Hopefull the next generation of consoles can do better then PC. A pc is supposed to do many other things, so an entire thing dedicated to gaming should be better then a pc.

NonStopEditing Too bad its gonna be another 5 or so years until there is a new xbox console made, really, the xbox360 is already amazing, there sint much they could do to make it better, Microsoft is amazing

The current gen consoles are at there limit. This is neatly shown by battlefield 3. Consoles get the lowest settings possible because that's all they can handle.
They do need a new console.

I don't worry because I mostly play on pc.

I'm hoping the next xbox will have 2 xfire/sli (or 3) gpu's, a intel core i7 @ 3.7 ghz and 8 gb or 12 gb of ram.

That would all keep the console alive for a pretty long time.

actually with my current field of study, there's already some info that me and my buddys have came across, this little rumor of a possible 2012 console isn't true, the new console is set to be released fall of 2013, however there are still chances it could be pushed to 2014, but as of right now 2013 is the set goal! The Xbox360 Slim, was the beta test of what the new console will be like, but of course there will be plenty new features and a completely new look!
