The Elder Scrolls VI Won’t be Coming Any Time Soon, Says Pete Hines

The Elder Scrolls VI will be coming out after Starfield, another mysterious title from Bethesda.

Almost two years have passed since Todd Howard, the director and executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios, revealed a short teaser trailer for The Elder Scrolls VI. In the time since, there has been absolutely no word from Bethesda on the game’s development. Essentially, everything about it is completely unknown. After an exchange with a user on Twitter, Pete Hines, Bethesda’s president of marketing, has made it clear that we won’t be learning anything about the title for a long time.

After being tagged and asked about the status of The Elder Scrolls VI, Hines replied bluntly, saying, “if you’re coming at me for details now and not years from now, I’m failing to properly manage your expectations.” He also included that the next entry in The Elder Scrolls series won’t be Bethesda’s next title. The Elder Scrolls VI will instead be arriving after Starfield, another mysterious title. Starfield was announced at the same E3 2018 presentation as The Elder Scrolls VI, and has also been kept under wraps.



It’s not entirely surprising that Bethesda hasn’t focused on either of these titles. Its recent releases, including Fallout 76: Wastelanders, Doom: Eternal and Wolfenstein: Youngblood, have been demanding. That being said, with these titles published and mostly out of the way, focus at Bethesda could be shifting towards future titles. It’s not clear whether we’ll have any news in the coming months either. Bethesda has currently opted out of hosting any digital or physical shows, though may present in other outlet’s showcases.

Of course, Hines’ exchange couldn’t end without fans pestering him, at least a little. When asked if a deep dive of Starfield is in the near future, Hines replied with “someday.” Naturally, this followed:

Gossip Don't get why you would announce a game yearsssss before release. Doesn't make sense at all.


Cyberpunk did the exact same thing, and now there's an incredible amount of hype for the game.
