Google Stadia users might be getting chat messaging soon

4.1
Google Stadia users could soon be able to send direct messages to other players.

Google might soon add the ability for Stadia users to send direct messages and have conversations.

According to 9to5Google, the latest update to the Stadia app features references to chat, direct messages, and conversations.

At present, the only way to communicate is by using a game’s built-in voice chat or through Stadia’s voice system. With messaging, you will essentially be able to send a text message to others using the app without the need for another service.

So if you want to find out if someone wants to play, or when they want to play, you will just send a message (thanks, Neowin).

Here’s what 9to5Google’s APK Insight team found when breaking down the latest update:

Message History panel title
Text chat
batchGetChatMessages
ChatMessages
ChatMessagesModel
ConversationViewModel
createChatMessage
DirectChatMessageList
DirectMessageLastReadTimestamps
enableTextChatFlag

The team also found privacy settings that allow the user to control who can message and send chat messages.

Stadia version 2.16 arrived on the Play Store this week.

Int Keep seeing so many things/updates from Stadia, but is it really catching on?

Not doing too bad, over 100,000 units sold in the last 2 months.

Google Stadia doesn't really peak my interest but I have to say they are doing a great job with it so far.

Good to see them keep updating the Stadia. Still won't make it any better though.
