WWE 2K Battlegrounds Announced, Addresses WWE 2K20 Concerns

2K and Saber Interactive announced WWE 2K Battlegrounds, a new arcade-style wrestling game, will be coming sometime this Fall.
Today, 2K and Saber Interactive announced WWE 2K Battlegrounds will release this Fall.

From the creators of NBA 2K Playgrounds, WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a brand new wrestling game featuring arcade-style action and cartoonish recreations of your favorite WWE Superstars. As seen in the trailer below, you’ll enter some unconventional locales like an underground arena and a swamp with a crocodile that will seemingly eat you if you’re thrown out of the ring.



As of now, the only wrestlers that are confirmed are Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, John Cena, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair. Each seems to have super-powered versions of their finishers. More information will be announced as its release approaches.

Additionally, 2K addressed last year’s wrestling entry, WWE 2K20, in its press release. The company announced they will not be releasing a simulation-based wrestling game this year and extending its production timeline to 2021.

They have brought on Patrick Gilmore as Executive Producer to help Visual Concepts create a game that will appease both newcomers and seasoned players. Gilmore has worked on games such as Killer Instinct, Medal of Honor, and New World. Again, the press release states that more details on the project will be announced in the coming months.

A few weeks back, former WWE games writer Justin Leeper published a video where he stated WWE 2K21 would be canceled. He also stated there would be a 2K wrestling game releasing this year from a different developer. Just a few days ago, WWE officially announced the next WWE 2K entry would not be releasing this year with the WWE games Twitter account teasing the WWE 2K Battlegrounds announcement.

Cent Sad to see where the WWE games are going. I really hope this isn't supposed to be the new style of game they will be sticking with because no one is going to want to buy this shit.
I've got the exact same opinion as you man, if all the upcoming titles do this it's just going to go downhill.

I'd love for them to come up with like a bobble head concept. Imagine wrestling with bobble heads xD it's a great idea to make sport game devs get involved with WWE Though!

Gossip A change up but idk how it's going to do. I'd try it out just because it's different. The regular one is just stale at this point.


Same with FIFA though, they can't really do much with the games because it's just how it is LOL.
