Streets of Rage 4 Release Date Officially Confirmed

4.3
Sega Megadrive's legendary beat 'em up series is back with Streets of Rage 4 coming April 30 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.

Streets of Rage 4 will be out on April 30 on PS4, Switch, Xbox One and PC for $24.99. The sequel was first announced in August 2018 by Dotemu and Sega with a really cool trailer by Bobby Prod, the animators behind Lastman. Now, we’re finally only a few days away from the game’s release after 2 years of wait.

Streets of Rage 4 is the first game the iconic beat ’em up series is getting in over 25 years. It brings back the trio from the very first game: Blaze Fielding, Adam Hunter and Axel Stone, along with two new characters. The cyborg Floyd Iraia and Adam’s daughter Cherry. All the soundtracks and playable characters from the past three games are included as well.

The game supports two-player online coop and up to four-player offline coop.

Streets of Rage 4 will also have the Battle Mode from SoR 2 and 3 back. This allows players to fight each other in an arena with or without items and hazards. It was always a fun mode to spend a few rounds on after clearing a run in coop with your friends or family.

Xbox Game Pass owners will also get Street of Rage 4 for free on Xbox One.

Not only Yuzo Koshiro is back, the game has BGM tracks from other legendary composers such as Live A Live‘s Yoko Shimomura and Jet Set Radio‘s Hideki Naganuma.

Brave Wave Productions also shared this incredible illustration by Ayano Koshiro and Ariga Megamix for the game’s upcoming OST vinyl release.

Streets of Rage, known as Bare Knuckle in Japan, had three episodes released by Sega on Megadrive in the early nineties. The series engraved itself into the souls of players worldwide thanks to its incredibly fun and nervous gameplay and its amazing soundtrack by Yuzo Koshiro, one of the best scores ever made. The series is highly popular in regions such as South America. In France as well, for a multitude of reasons. I’d personally cite the fact that it was my first time in childhood seeing black characters in a game. The series is like a tradition for some, myself included, regularly playing through the games even after 25 years.

As a French person myself, I’m particularly proud of Dotemu, Guard Crush, and Lizardcube’s work. I cannot wait to get my hands on this.

I like the way this looks honestly but I am not a fan of fighting games.

9nty I love really generic games that are old that come back to a surprise to the community., old games that started on Xbox from the beginning and now the devs making a remake/newer version of the game which is cool to see. All the best with the sales this game is going to do well.

It's kinda nice for the older people who still play games to see some of their childhood games come back. Hopefully the sales do well!

Yeah but I feel the nostalgia wont ever be there.

It could be maybe. I guess we won't know until we try it out when it releases. I think I'd enjoy giving the game a run through over the weekend. Nothing else to do during this quarantine anyways.

Yin I had the original on the Sega Genesis. Was one of my favorite games back in the day and I still have the trilogy downloaded on my Xbox. Some of the music is still fantastic and I can see that they took elements from the older tracks (which I do think I saw a documentary type of video where they brought back some of the original artists for this game.) I'm 100% playing this. I'm not sure about the Battle Mode, but I have to try the story.

I'm not sure if I was too young or what but I can't remember playing these games but they look so familiar after looking up some gameplay for it. It's like a memory that's there but just not fully lol.
I feel the complete same for real man, I have some sort of memory about the series.

Actually looks like a pretty cool game. I haven't ever played any of the other games in the series only seen gameplay but it looks dope. Good to see a new one releasing!
