Terraria’s fourth and final free expansion launches in May

3.9
Terraria has moved far beyond its initial appearance as a ‘2D Minecraft clone’, and has remained one of the biggest sandbox games out there for years now. And it’s not quite finished yet, either. Terraria 1.4 – or more formally, Terraria: Journey’s End – is the game’s fourth and final major expansion, and it’s finally set to launch next month.

Terraria: Journey’s End is officially scheduled to launch on May 16, 2020. The update has been in the works for years, and was officially unveiled in its current form with a trailer for E3 2019. The image alongside today’s announcement confirms two new difficulty modes: the extra-tough Master setting, as well as Journey mode – a new difficulty setting that will work a bit like the creative mode in Minecraft, though not quite as open-ended.

The developers have been teasing new features for the expansion for ages, and you can browse wikis for the full list of changes – but it’s a lot. There are a load of new weapons, including an even-more-powerful sword, new furniture, new food items, new pets and minions, and even a lawnmower.

Stardew Valley creator Eric ‘ConcernApe’ Barone “can’t wait” until the 1.4 clubhouse is complete, incidentally – just as he’s started teasing Stardew Valley 1.5 in earnest.

Terraria initially launched all the way back in 2011, and a decade’s worth of updates are testament to just how popular the sandbox adventure has been.

Gossip Didn't really enjoy this game at all. They can keep the dlc.

Why would you even comment? If you don't like the game, why even click on an article about it?

I guess luckily for you it's the last one lol. The game is pretty fun with friends just to kill some time on or if there is nothing to play.

Such a great game! Sad to see the end of new updates, but it's been a fun seven years.

Was such a fun game when I was younger. Sad to see the journey end but it was definitely fun while it lasted. I'll have to check out the final update when it releases next month.
