PS Vita Upfront Cost Little, Extras are quite pricey

4.6
The PS Vita suprised many when it was revealed as a reasonably priced, next generation handheld. There's no doubt that what you get out of the door with PS Vita is a good bargain. An online capable games machine, with so many features packed into the hardware, that mobile gamers will have a hard time passing on the new handheld.

While some may have been somewhat disappointed with the reveal of the short lifespan of the Vita's built in battery, these short lifespans have become a stark reality in these feature rich handhelds.

Battery life will be the least of your concerns when the Vita finally arives, because at least it comes with one that can be recharged. On the other hand, the on-board memory for the device was cut down to keep costs lower for the electronics maker, and because of that, you'll need to pony up some extra cash to save your games and perform other functions on the device. The prices for this proprietary memory are quite exorbitant. A 4GB memory card will run you $30, 8GB for $40, 16GB for $70, and 32GB for $120.

The stark reality of owning a PS Vita may be more costly than advertised, with some analysts of the gaming community already deeming the handheld too expensive, you can throw another log on that fire.
