PS5 Will Have An Unusually Expensive Cooling System – Rumour

3.7
The question of what price Sony will choose to sell the PS5 at has remained unanswered for a while – Sony themselves don’t seem too sure about what they’re going to decide – but a recent report by Bloomberg painted a worrying picture for prospective buyers of the console, claiming that Sony was struggling to keep the console’s price low due to high productions costs.

The report goes into a bit more granular detail as well, and it seems like among the components inside of the machine, one that they’re reportedly spending an unexpected amount of money is the cooling system. As per the report, Sony wants to ensure “heat dissipation from the powerful chips housed inside the console isn’t an issue”, and has chosen to include an “unusually expensive” cooling system “at a few dollars per unit.”

Considering how notorious the PS4 has been for years for producing a ridiculous amount of noise with its cooling system, it’s not surprising that Sony is looking to take these criticisms into account while making improvements for the upcoming next-gen system.

In the same report, it was also mentioned that Sony has plans to launch a PSVR 2 after the PS5 has gone on sale.

Maze Consoles are getting to be mid grade PCs and are for sure going to have overheating problems down the line, so this is probably a smart choice. Remember when Microsoft didn't worry about overheating 360s? I think I still have my RROD console collecting dust somewhere.

Used to get RROD constantly from overheating, hated it

Hmm. Very interesting. I wonder what the release price will actually be, especially compared to the new Xbox
