Sony Recruits Ex-Homeland Security Boss

4.6
Need any more proof that Sony is taking security very, very seriously in the wake of this year's PSN breach? Here's some. The firm has just appointed Philip Reitinger, as Chief Security Officer - a man who used to be director of the U.S. National Cyber Security Center. A Reuters report claims that shares in sony have fallen by 55 percent since the PSN breach in April, in which the account details of 100 million users were obtained (just in case you've forgotten). A Sony spokesman is quoted as saying that "Certainly the network issue was a catalyst for the appointment," adding "We are looking to bolster our network security even further."

Sony appears to be playing the long game in the months after the PSN hacking scandal, looking to quietly rebuild trust amongst its users. But can this appointment help Sony to re-establish its wider credibility as a digital distributor?
