Google Adding 10 Extra Games to Stadia’s Launch Lineup

3.4
In a bit of an unexpected move, Google has announced 10 new games that'll be available on Stadia on launch day, bringing the total amount to 22.

When Google announced the launch lineup for its upcoming streaming-only console Stadia earlier last week, many fans were disappointed at the low number of titles, as well as the number of games already out on other platforms. In a move seemingly designed as a response to these complaints, Google has unexpectedly announced that the platform will be launching with an additional 10 games, bringing up its total number of launch games to 22.

Unfortunately, all of the extra titles are games available on other platforms, satisfying the complaint about the low number of games, but not doing anything about the fact that they are all old titles. These new titles include Attack on Titan: Final Battle 2, Farming Simulator 2019, Final Fantasy XV, Football Manager 2020, Grid 2, Metro Exodus, NBA 2K20, Rage 2, Trials Rising, and Wolfenstein Youngblood.

While these additional titles are certainly an improvement over the original list, I can’t help but continue to think about how hard of a sell this is going to be. Sure, 22 games are nothing to scoff at, especially when you compare it to the original lineup, but only one of those games is going to be exclusive to your platform at launch? That seems a little weak to me. It’ll be interesting to see how it all pans out as time goes on, as the launch of Stadia is just around the corner.
