Ubisoft Reveals Plans for Ghost Recon Breakpoint After Poor Reception

Ubisoft revealed its plans for Ghost Recon Breakpoint after admitting its sales and reception were disappointing.

Ubisoft is less than pleased with how Ghost Recon Breakpoint has performed since its release on Oct. 4. Co-Founder and CEO Yves Guillemot shared that the game not only failed to hit sale expectations, but that its reception has been largely negative. He said that Ubisoft plans to adjust its strategies going forward–one of the reasons Watch Dogs Legion, Rainbow Six Quarantine, and Gods & Monsters have all been delayed to the next fiscal year.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint isn’t being looked past yet, though. Ubisoft released its plans for the game in a post earlier today. That post starts by addressing the technical state of the game, which isn’t great. Reports of bugs and general stability issues have spread far and wide. Title Update 1.0.3 hopes to clean up these issues come mid-November by fixing drones, night-vision goggles, and the mission completion notification popup.

The post then moves onto post-launch content. The first of which will be a raid releasing in December called Project Titan. A Terminator live event will follow sometime after. Next up is a fix coming to Ghost Recon Breakpoint‘s in-game economy. The post doesn’t offer any details as to what this fix will look like and when it’s coming, but I imagine it might change the fact that there are two in-game currencies that can confusingly be used in tandem for the game’s ridiculous amount of microtransactions.

There are also plans to bring AI teammates back into the fold. No timeline on when that’s expected to happen. The last goalpost outlined for Ghost Recon Breakpoint is to somehow make it more tailorable. This part is especially light on details. All we know is that Ubisoft is working on a “more radical and immersive version of Ghost Recon Breakpoint.”

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is available for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It’s also scheduled to arrive on Google Stadia. You can purchase it for $50 at the time of this writing.
