Microsoft is testing some new changes for the Xbox One dashboard

3.7
Microsoft has been toying with the design of the Xbox One dashboard over the past few months, starting with the removal of the tabs known as Twists. Until now, those have been replaced with four buttons that offer the same features, but that could change in the future, as Microsoft is now conducting another set of experiments for the Xbox One dashboard.

Previously, these experiments were conducted with what's called AB testing, where a group of users is chosen to test a new design, while the other maintains the current design to serve as a control group. This time around, Microsoft is doing ABC testing, with two new layouts being tested by separate groups of people, in addition to a control group that will see the current design.

For group A, the new Xbox One dashboard will look the same as it's been looking for Insiders since July, keeping the four-button layout for the features previously housed in separate tabs. Group B, however, will notice that the four buttons are replaced with a single tile for My Apps & Games.

Group C is, of course, the control group, which will see the current tabbed design. Microsoft will be taking the data it collects from this experiment to determine which solution offers the best organization and performance.

To be eligible for the new Home experiments, you'll need to be in either the Preview Alpha or Skip Ahead rings, and have the latest available builds installed. The Skip Ahead build that prepares for this change is rolling out later today, while Preview Alpha users should already have it.
