PlayStation’s Shawn Layden on Bringing Titles to Other Platforms

In a new interview, PlayStation's Shawn Layden discusses the possibility of bringing their titles to other platforms.

In a new interview with Bloomberg, Shawn Layden, chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s worldwide game studios, discusses the possibility of bringing their first-party titles to other platforms.

“We must support the PlayStation platform — this is non-negotiable,” says Layden. “That said, you will see in the future some titles coming out of my collection of studios which may need to lean into a wider installed base.” Additionally, the interview points out that “particularly multiplayer titles designed to be played on personal computers — may see broader distribution.”

Layden’s comments come shortly after it was announced that PlayStation has added Insomniac Games to its stable of first-party studios which includes Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch. With Insomniac now being an exclusive studio, it remains unclear if their Xbox exclusive Sunset Overdrive will make its way to a PlayStation console.

This wasn’t the only PlayStation news to come out of Gamescom. New footage of Death Stranding was shown off which includes Geoff Keighley making an appearance and….using piss as a weapon? With each new tidbit about this game, I keep getting both more intrigued but also confused at the same time.

While it’s unclear what Insomniac’s next game will be, we’ll be sure to let you know when they announce it.
