Destiny 2 Cross Save Support to Arrive Next Week

3.5
As part of Bungie’s outline of the future of Destiny 2 a few months back, it was announced that the game would soon be receiving cross save functionality across all platforms. While at the time we didn’t know when this support would arrive, now, Bungie has a specific date that it has divulged.

Cross saves will finally be arriving in Destiny 2 next week on Wednesday, August 21. This means that you’ll be able to take your character that you may have utilized on PC, PS4, or Xbox One and bring them over to another platform if you so desire. While this obviously isn’t the same as cross play support, which would allow you to play with friends on other platforms, it at least allows you to migrate to another ecosystem where your friends might be without losing your progress.

One of the only things that will still be tied to specific platforms is that of Silver in Destiny 2. Bungie says that if you have any of the currency on hand, you’ll only be able to spend it within the platform you earned it on.

Additionally, linking your account to other platforms isn’t a permanent action. If you decide you would like to disable the feature, your characters will then return to the original platforms that they were created upon. You can then activate cross saves again 90 days after disabling if you decide to link everything back up again.

Destiny 2 is out now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and will be coming to Stadia later this year. The game’s next expansion, Shadowkeep, is slated to arrive in early October alongside New Light, a free-to-play version of Destiny 2.
