Destiny 2 is Heading to Steam This September

3.3
Destiny 2 is finally coming to PC's most popular platform this fall.

Bungie went to social media today to announce that Destiny 2 is coming to Steam later this year. Up to this point, Destiny 2 has only been available on PC through Activision’s battle.net launcher. Back in January Bungie split with Activision acquiring the franchise as well as the publishing rights for the game. This was likely due to a lot of criticism the game was receiving specifically with the amount of content and microtransactions. Steam is the most popular platform to play games on PC so it makes sense that Bungie is bringing the game to Steam after the split.

Destiny 2 is set to release on Steam on September 17. You can pre-order Destiny 2: Shadowkeep right now on Steam as well. There are two different editions available. The standard edition of the game for $34.99 which includes Destiny 2, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, Shadowkeep, and Shadowkeep Pre-Order Pack. This will give you everything you need to jump into the game including all the expansions. There is also the Digital Deluxe Edition for $59.99 that comes with everything in the standard edition plus a Shadowkeep Deluxe Pack.

There is no news as to if the game is coming to other PC platforms like the Epic Games Store, but it could be a work in progress. The only platform outside of Linux and Mac that the game won’t be on is the Nintendo Switch and that’s because the game is likely too powerful to run on the system.

Destiny 2 was announced last month to be coming to Google Stadia during the platform’s launch later this year in November. We will be sure to update you on any news as it comes along.
