Marcus “Notch” Persson’s indie megahit Minecraft has passed a mammoth milestone.

According to the designer’s latest tweet, Minecraft now has a whopping 10 million registered users. Now, just about a quarter of those have actually purchased the game–which is still in beta–but still, the figure is large.

Looking ahead, Minecraft is headed to the Xbox 360 and to mobile phones in the next year.
