Dauntless Joins Epic Games Store

4.3
The Epic Games Store is still rather young, yet it still seems to be raking in all sorts of titles that are requiring users to make an Epic account in order to get the games being made exclusive or even free. Dauntless is another title on the list to be arriving to the digital marketplace.

In a blog post by Dauntless devs Pheonix Labs, it was revealed that the game will be joining the Epic Games store this year with plans to retire the PC’s standalone launcher. While the title is still due to arrive on consoles later this year, it’s currently available to play for free on PC.

Due to the shift to the Epic Games Store, all current Dauntless accounts will need to be migrated over. It’s worth pointing out that the account merging is an opt-in option, so should you not wish for your details to be sent to Epic Games, you can just not merge. All progress made in the game will be carried over in the transition, although there might be some issues with usernames as detailed in the blog’s FAQ.

The current patcher Dauntless uses will be shut down when all accounts have been migrated over, although no specific date has been set for the migration process to begin. Pheonix Labs are apparently in talks with Ramsgate —the middleman— to see what extras they can pull together for early migrations.

The migration process looks as if it’ll be taking place in April 2019 alongside the console launches according to the trailer that launched in December 2018. Although, due to mentions of early migrations, it looks like it may take place prior to April.
