Nintendo Switch Firmware 6.0.1 Now Available

3.5
On the heels of the more major 6.0.0 update for the Nintendo Switch, that mostly enabled functionality with the Nintendo Switch Online service, Nintendo has launched a new firmware update for their system. Version 6.0.1 is, as the designation may suggest, a far less substantial update in terms of what it brings to the table—which is a bunch of bug fixes.

I’m actually surprised here, because I expected it to be another one of those “stability” updates, but there’s meaningful fixes included here. So, the update fixes an issue with the motion controls not working properly for certain licensed controllers, and it fixes an issue where the internet upload and download speeds are not correctly displayed on the connection test page in system settings. You can, if you feel like it, check out the full patch notes for the update on Nintendo’s website yourself, but since the patch notes are literally what I just said and nothing more, I wouldn’t bother.

If your Switch was in Sleep Mode, and has auto-updates enabled, the update should be downloaded already, and all you have to do is apply the install when you turn it on. If not, you can force the update yourself by going into system settings.

I haven't plugged my switch in for a long time, but might have to do this to get the firmware update! Bug fixes and a crucial fix for motion controls is great.

I'm surprised that the author is surprised, seems like a basic update that makes sense on all sides.
