Modern Warfare 3 Moves Beyond MW2 Engine

Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling insists Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3′s engine is an improvement on Modern Warfare 2′s efforts.“We haven’t gone into detail on the engine yet but we’ve moved beyond the MW2 engine and added a lot of cool stuff for MW3,” Bowling said, responding to questions on Twitter.

Modern Warfare 2 was powered by Infinity Ward’s IW Engine, as were Call of Duty 2, World at War, and Black Ops.

Although the engine has seen numbered revisions, it is yet to see an obvious overhaul, which has drawn criticism.

I highly doubt they're going to make a new engine... they're most likely going to use IW engine 4.0 ( As used in MW2 )

Seno **** finally. Been so damn sick of the same engine being reused since CoD4. It was great when it was new >.>. I REALLY hope that MW3 isn't just another repetitive CoD game... they've honestly been downhill since CoD4. If you honestly don't agree with that, its because you're a little MW2 **** who never experienced the transition from Cod3 to Cod4 now that was a true innovation everything else has been shitty adaptations of a godly game.


Call of Duty 3 was the only COD game to not use the IW engine. It used the Treyarch NGL engine, which was so horrible they decided to never use it again :D
