PlayStation Classic Will Not Receive Any Games Post-Launch

3.3
The PlayStation Classic was announced this week and we can look forward to diving back into 20 of the system’s games. However, only five games have been announced so far, Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms. Also, the system is using the original controller rather than the first DualShock controller. It is safe to say that after the announcement, many of us were left with quite a few questions, with many hoping that the new product would address complaints of similar products. Well, it looks like some of those questions have been answered.

In a report from IGN, it was stated that the classic rendition of the first PlayStation system will not receive any games post-launch. IGN was contacted via email by a PlayStation spokesperson who stated: “There are no plans to bring new content to the PlayStation Classic post-launch.”

On top of that, the spokesperson confirmed that PS Classic will not connect to PSN. So, I sadly won’t be able to get a platinum trophy for Final Fantasy 7 on the tiny console.

Additionally, it was confirmed that the 20 titles selected are specifically tailored to each region.

Make sure to check out DualShockers’ list of 15 games that we would like to be put on the system. The PlayStation Classic is set to release on December 3rd for $99.99.

Much like the Nintendo classics, it makes sense. These are more for the true collectors otherwise an emulator can give you access to every ps1 game.

For now, give it like a few months and I rekon they'll bring some more out when sales start dropping.

I am confused as to why they didnt/dont make games BC like xbox does? Now they make a whole new system for customers to buy to play older games.... I am not sure if I read this wrong but if I am right this has money hungry written all over it.

Making an even better point for Sony to not even sell this piece of junk in the first place.

Just don't understand why Sony feels that this is a thing they can do lol. There's plenty of Emulators and other consoles out there that run these games. I'd say Nintendo, Atari & Sega should be the only ones able to do this and for it to work... This just looks like another pathetic excuse for money from playstation lol.
