SEGA Genesis Classics Brings Retro Love to Nintendo Switch This Winter

3.8
With Streets of Rage 4 on its way and the adorable PlayStation Classic revealed earlier this morning, you would be forgiven for having a sudden urge to dive back into some legendary 1990’s video games. Luckily enough, Nintendo’s got you covered with SEGA Genesis Classics lined up for release on Switch.

The compilation which has already hit PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC earlier this year along with PS VR support sports more than 50 titles to choose from, many of which were generation-defining in their day. The Switch edition promises to supply the same great catalog of yesteryear’s SEGA classics. Among those included are Altered Beast, the Golden Axe trilogy, all three Streets of Rage games, Gunstar Heroes, along with Toejam and Earl. There is also deep combat to be enjoyed with the visually gorgeous Comix Zone, immersive RPGs with three Phantasy Star titles to choose from, classic 2D platforming comes in the form of Decap Attack, and there is fast-paced shooter action with both of Vectorman’s outings and Space Harrier II.

Of course, no SEGA-based compilation would be complete without an appearance from the iconic Blur Blur and SEGA Genesis Classics sees him taking up four slots with Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3D: Blast, and Sonic Spinball while his nemesis stars in the brain-teasing puzzler Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine.

SEGA Genesis Classics will be available both physically and as a digital download for Nintendo Switch this Winter. It can also be picked up now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Mikey Once again, great news for the Seitch lovers, which I am soon to be when I get mine within a few months time. Awesome to see them bring back the old Retro games to the console.

I bought one on Friday but haven't really used it as of yet

My first experience playing video games was when I was maybe 5 or 6 playing Sonic with my dad on his SEGA Genesis. This is sweet, and this is yet another reason to add to my list of why I want a switch
