DOOM Eternal’s First Gameplay Footage Raises Hell at QuakeCon

4.1
To kick off the weekend’s festivities at QuakeCon 2018, Bethesda and id Software made good on their promise back at E3 and revealed the first gameplay footage of the upcoming sequel DOOM Eternal.

id Software’s Hugo Martin and Marty Stratton appeared on stage before the official gameplay was revealed to show off some new concept art for DOOM Eternal. The DOOM Slayer has been completely overhauled from the previous game and now is much more powerful. Enemies have also been redesigned and classic foes from the original DOOM II have also made their way into DOOM Eternal.

As for notable new additions in DOOM Eternal, movement seems to be amplified even more than before with new weapons such as the grappling hook shotgun allowing you to latch onto enemies to zoom towards them. The DOOM Slayer also now comes equipped with a machete attached to his left arm and also has a shoulder mounted cannon that looks like it can launch both missiles and flames.

You can find both of the gameplay sections that were shown today for DOOM Eternal below courtesy of MKIceAndFire. Notably, no release date, or even a window, was given today at QuakeCon so we still don’t know when it’ll arrive. However, the Amazon page has a placeholder date of December 31, 2019, indicating that Bethesda likely plans to launch it next year.

Whenever DOOM Eternal does release, it’ll be coming to PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
