Bungie Discusses Killing Off Cayde-6 in New Destiny 2: Forsaken Video

4
Fans were shocked when they learned last month that the upcoming expansion Destiny 2: Expansion will kick off with the death of the beloved character Cayde-6. This dark note kickstarts the events of Forsaken and will lead players down a path of vengeance.

In a new video, members of the team at Bungie and High Moon Studios discuss the narrative of Destiny 2: Forsaken and why they opted to go down a darker route with the story this time. Eric Osborne, the Head of Community, says that at first the death of Cayde-6 seems like it’s being done for shock value when instead it helps to further flesh out the game world and makes it richer.

Other members of Bungie also remark that the stakes of Destiny 2: Forsaken are much lower than normal. Instead of having to save the entire universe, Forsaken is a personal story that is more about avenging your fallen comrade. Even though the conflict isn’t on as large of a scale, though, you as the player feel just as committed to seeing through your task.

You can find the full video featuring devs from Bungie discussing the story from Forsaken at the bottom of the page. Currently, you can pre-order Destiny 2: Forsaken over on Amazon to prepare for its arrival on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 4.

Cayde-6 was pretty cool, but removing characters aint going to improve Destiny 2 is it lol. Games dead now :(

ngl, poor choice of character removal. he's literally the only character that makes you wanna do the story
