Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Shawn Layden Comments on Crossplay

4.4
Over the past few months, opposition to Sony’s reluctance on crossplay has been growing, but the latest controversy about the Switch version of Fortnite is what many consider to be the proverbial straw that broke the camels back. And after the company’s rather lackluster statement regarding the matter, many thought that the fight was over. That may no longer be the case, however, as the President and CEO of the company, Shawn Layden, has provided a new update, and it may give hope to fans.

During a Gamelab conference today, in which Shawn Layden was attending, a Eurogamer reporter asked him about the issue, and while fans shouldn’t be screaming up and down with joy, it seems like there may be hope after all:

“”We’re hearing it. We’re looking at a lot of the possibilities. You can imagine that the circumstances around that affect a lot more than just one game. I’m confident we’ll get to a solution which will be understood and accepted by our gaming community, while at the same time supporting our business.”

Right now Microsoft and Nintendo both support cross-play with each other on Minecraft and Fortnite, with other games to more than likely be supported in the near future, leaving Sony as the only outlier within the “big three.”

Don't think Sony is ever going to make Cross play a thing

It's been done so it shouldn't be that hard Sony's acting like it's the first step
