Nintendo will reveal Switch Online service details early next month

4.1
The first bits of information about Nintendo’s anticipated Switch Online subscription service will come to light in early May.

As part of Nintendo’s fourth quarter earnings, where the company announced selling 17 million Switch units, Nintendo had a slide about the Switch Online service.

In the earnings report [PDF], Nintendo mentioned that it plans to reveal the first details on its website in early May.

There’s still a lot we do not know about the Switch Online service. Things like value-added monthly games or similar benefits are unclear, and though Nintendo confirmed the subscription prices (a lot cheaper than Plus and Gold) and a September launch date, much remains a mystery.

Sadly no other information was shared in the presentation, though hopefully the next info drop will answer many of our questions. That said, it’s great that we won’t have to wait until E3 to find out more.

The Switch Online service was initially supposed to launch last fall, when Nintendo delayed it. As it stands, online play is free on the Nintendo Switch, but this will change once the service goes online.
