Are License Plate Changes in BO3 Hinting at Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

4.3
It seems like the teases for the next Call of Duty game may have begun. After the new map Redwood Snow was added to Call of Duty: Black Ops III on Monday, Redditors like user MrTheRevertz noticed something different about the winter-themed overlay of the launch map, and it may have something to do with the recently rumored Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII.

After careful examination, it seems like the license plate on the red truck near the cabin on the map has changed from its original counterpart. Now the front license plate reads 0123456, while the back reads 2QR1496 which is different from the original map’s license plate of 2SAM528. You can check out images of these license plates below.

What these numbers mean (no pun intended), however, is unknown. What’s interesting is that if you shoot off the license plates, they revert back to their standard “2SAM528” when they hit the ground, almost certainly meaning this was an intentional change made by the Treyarch. Only time will tell if people can decipher what this means or if fans are just on a wild-goose chase.

Treyarch has, however, been known to tease their next game in the past. Before Black Ops III was announced they updated certain maps in Black Ops II to include a QR code, which in and of itself teased cryptic videos.

This news comes the day after James Harden, a professional basketball player, was seen wearing a hat with an “IIII” symbol on it in the same style and color as the Black Ops logos.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III was originally released on November 6, 2015, and is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. As of the time of this writing, Black Ops IIII has not been officially announced. Any rumors regarding it should obviously be taken with a grain of salt, including this one. Check out the screengrabs below about the new license plate changes:

Obviously it's a hint but I bet it doesn't mean much at all.. it's just a number.

This actually had me laughing. A great reference to the older games for sure.

Tom Just because a few minor things were changed (the licenses plate) causes so much drama and possible "hints" at Black Ops 4. Like, it's just a plate change, doesn't mean the developers are hiding something.

Changing the plates wasn't a minor thing, though. They had to go in and fully change the plates out manually. And they had to add in the script that, when shot, it changes back to the old plates. That's lines of code and animation they had to manually add. So unless a Dev just wanted a fun little easter egg or the whole company wanted to start hinting at the next game, we'll just have to wait.

Specialize We'll see if these numbers mean something, but in all honesty 0123456 doesn't seem to make any sense unless there making black ops 6 lol
