Sea of Thieves Beta Had an Impressive Turnout Despite Rough Start

4.3
When the Sea of Thieves beta first started, many players were excited to jump right into the shared world adventure and harness their inner pirate. Unfortunately, seas were rough and many couldn't even connect to the servers to begin with. Since the entire purpose of a beta is to stress test servers, this was a good thing to catch before launch and the team decided to further test by extending the beta period an additional two days. Despite the rocky start, the testing period had a pretty impressive turnout now that the final numbers have been tallied.

For those that participated in the beta period, you should have received an e-mail from RARE with the final results. Here's the breakdown of the pirate-y adventures:

332,052 total players
More than 2,000,000 hours on the sea
104,240 average viewers
14,482,120 watched via streaming
Reached number 1 live viewers on both Twitch and Mixer

KyloCrux I've had so much fun watching the gameplay. Can't wait for this game to get full release. It'll be one of the best games out there.

The only thing im worried about in this game is how long it'll last. Seems like the game is just about capturing loot on islands / in the sea, fighting off other pirates and the odd quests. Although Multiplayer will be a blast I dont see much to do in the game if its been out for 2 months or so. I may be talking out of my ass since I actually never gave the game a go nor watched many streams of it but hopefully we'll get to see some features that'll keep us off our feet.

was expecting more than 332,052 people playing the game but still a huge number. Wish i would have played the beta but guess I just got to wait for the full game. Hopefully the full game wont have a rough start like the beta too.

Wish I managed to try it out but either way I'm for sure getting it on release in March.
