Surely with all these NGPs and Xperia Plays and Xperia NGPs (okay I made that last one up), Sony should be putting some thought towards the inevitable PS4? Not happening yet, says Sony boss man Kaz Hirai.

Speaking to Japanese website PC Impress Watch (which was promptly translated by Eurogamer), Hirai said: “I think the value of the PS3 will continue to rise. Because of this, a near-future PS4 or next-generation home console is not something that we are even debating now. That is to say, we are still concentrating fully upon the PS3. Right now, I appeal to you to think of the PS3 and NGP as a new, co-operative partnership.”

The CEO also commented on how we’re not even half way through the PS3′s “10 year life cycle”. Add on Microsoft’s claims of Kinect adding another four or five years onto the 360′s life and it looks like we’re still some ways off from the next generation of consoles. Look for Uncharted 6 to be the PS4′s launch title.
