Apple introduced three new iPhones this year, and the trend is expected to continue next year as well. According to a new report from Nikkei, Apple will launch three new iPhone models next year, including two OLED models and one with an LCD display, citing sources close to the company's product designs.

Furthermore, the two OLED models will come with a 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch screen size, respectively. As for the LCD model, it is rumored to ship with a 6.1-inch display and a metal casing with multiple color options. If Apple decides to go with a metal casing, Casetek, a subsidiary of iPhone assembler Pegatron, could score a big order to manufacture the casing, as per the report from Nikkei.

If the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone comes with a metal casing, this means that it will have to let go of the wireless charging feature which was recently introduced by Apple with the 2017 iPhone lineup. Although it's a bit hard to believe that Apple will dump the wireless charging feature just a year after the company introduced it.

This should come as a good news for Sharp and Japan Display provided that Apple opts for an LCD panel for one of its iPhones next year. The Cupertino company switched to OLED displays, provided by Samsung for the iPhone X, so this should come as a good news for both manufacturers.

This goes in line with Ming-Chi Kuo's report which suggested that Apple will launch three new iPhones next year, including a variant with an LCD display. However, there are some differences when it comes to screen sizes. The analyst mentioned in his research note that the bigger OLED iPhone will come with a 6.5-inch display instead of 6.3-inches. The new iPhones are also rumored to come with a bezel-free display, Apple's TrueDepth camera system, and FaceID.
