Evidence Suggests That Assassin’s Creed Rogue HD Is Happening
The Korean Game Rating Board has officially rated Assassin’s Creed Rogue HD for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and have listed a release date of March 15, 2018 – the previous date that the Italian retailers had provided. The specifics on the rating weren’t given, but if this isn’t proof that the game exists, nothing is.
Why hasn’t Ubisoft announced it yet, you ask? More than likely, it’s continuing to pump hype into its big holiday release, Assassin’s Creed Origins, and doesn’t want another game announcement stealing its thunder. That said, as we mentioned before, The Game Awards is coming up tomorrow, and we also have PlayStation Experience this weekend, so there’s a possibility that we could see the announcement at that time. If not, there’s time galore to announce it in January.
Assassin’s Creed Rogue first came out for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC back in 2015, about the same time that Assassin’s Creed Unity was coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Because of Unity’s release – and the fact many people were upgrading to newer systems at the time – Rogue got overshadowed, despite its neat new storyline focusing on a Templar-based assassin instead of the usual “good guys”. So a re-release would do good for the series, giving it the exposure it needs.
As we mentioned in the previous news piece, Ubisoft has given love to prior released Assassin’s Creed games in the past, with Liberation HD coming out for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 following the game’s original release on PS Vita, and The Ezio Collection coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 last year.
We’ll let you know once Ubisoft makes it official, but, heck yeah, we're ready to be the bad guy again.
