Nintendo Switch gets a small update to fix a pesky issue

Fresh off the heels of one of the most significant updates to the Nintendo Switch’s software, users can download a new version to their consoles. While not as impressive as the last version, 4.0.1 will help with a smoother user experience for sound and video.

According to Nintendo’s patch notes, owners of Nintendo’s latest console will get improvements to their HDMI connections. Apart from “general system stability improvements” for the user experience, the notes reveal the new HDMI connection update will “match that of version 3.0.2 to address video and sound output issues with some TV models.”

The change comes after players reported different televisions, like Samsung, had problems matching audio with picture. Many users on the Nintendo Support forums also said it got to the point that no audio was coming out of the television at all.

While the small update has more of a technical update, version 4.0.0 brought several exciting features to the console. Certain compatible games, like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Splatoon 2, can now capture 30 seconds of gameplay to show off to friends later. Also, users can finally transfer their accounts from one Switch to another, with a slight catch attached.

Just in time for the release of Super Mario Odyssey, Nintendo also introduced the ability to pre-order and preload games right from the Nintendo Shop on the console. With the high demand for many of Nintendo’s games, it’s nice to know a digital option will be easy to come by, especially with the added benefit of having it ready to play as soon as it’s available.
